ZTE Orbit Windows Phone Tango Smartphone

ZTE brings to the MWC 2012 the Orbit, an entry-level smartphone running Windows Phone 7 Tango operating system. The Orbit is powered by 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM, comes with 4GB onboard storage. The Tango phone has a 4-inch 800×480 touchscreen, and a 5 Megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash.

The Orbit is actually not the company’s first Windows Phone device. ZTE has also launched the Tania last month. The Tania also gets a 1GHz processor, yet it has a slightly bigger 4.3-inch touchscreen. It comes with 4GB internal storage and a 5 Megapixel camera as well.

Both Orbit and Tania support GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. The Orbit also gets NFC support.

ZTE introduces at the MWC 2012 in Barcelona a quad-core smartphone, the Era with a ultra slim form factor. At just 7.8mm thick, the Era packs NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor, which features the unique 4-PLUS-1 quad-core architecture with a fifth battery saver core to better battery life. The quad-core device will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

ZTE’s Era features a 4.3-inch 960×540 touchscreen, 8GB internal memory, a 8 Megapixel auto focus camera with 1080p video recording and LED flash and a VGA front-facing camera. Thanks to NVIDIA’s Icera 450 HSPA+ modem, which can also be found on ZTE’s Mimosa X, the Era works on GSM, EDGE, WCDMA 3G as well as HSPA+ mobile networks. The phone also supports WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS connectivity.

The ZTE Era also comes with DLNA support for media streaming and MHL for HDMI output. It also features HD Voice and Dolby sound.

ZTE PF112 Smartphone with 4.5-inch 720p Touchscreen

ZTE announced at the MWC 2012 its new HD touchscreen smartphone, the PF112 with a large 4.5-inch 1280×720 HD touchscreen display. Powered by a Qualcomm MSM8260A Krait dual-core processor and 1GB RAM, the new handset runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It has a 8 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash, HD video recording, Smile Recognition, HDR Exposure bracketing. There is also a 720p front-facing camera for video calls.

The ZTE PF112 comes with 8GB onboard storage and supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB. The HD smartphone supports Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi and GPS connectivity as well as DLNA for wireless media streaming and MHL for HDMI output. It also packs e-compass, gyroscope, light sensor, and weight sensor. The phone comes with dual microphone for background noise cancellation and offers Dolby sound. The ZTE PF112 has a metallic shell.

Samsung introduces its new Galaxy S WiFi 4.2, an Android media player intended to deliver powerful gaming on the go, joining the Galaxy S WiFi 3.6, 4.0 and 5.0 players. The new 4.2-inch PMP is powered by a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. It features the SoundAlive audio system for enhanced gaming experience. It comes pre-loaded with Need For Speed Hot Pursuit game.

The Galaxy S WiFi 4.2 sports a 4.2-inch 480×800 IPS LCD touchscreen, a 2 Megapixel main camera, a VGA front camera for video call, support for Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, and a microSD card slot for expansion. The player comes in 8GB or 16GB models. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is loaded with TouchWiz UI, Samsung Hub, ChatON app.

Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, which is basically a Note-ized version of the Galaxy Tab 2.0 10.1. To be a Note, the tablet comes with S Pen stylus and the S Note tool that lets combine notes or sketches together with web content, images and other digital media into your own personalized storyboards. The tablet comes with various ready-to-use templates such as meeting minutes, recipe, cards, diary, magazine and more, and is able to digitize hand-drawn geometric shapes using the Shape Match function, which helps users to create more organized idea sketches and storyboards.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. Like the Tab 2.0 10.1, the Note 10.1 has a 10.1-inch PLS 1280×800 touchscreen and a 3 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and Full HD video recording. It gets a 2 Megapixel front camera for video chat, instead of VGA camera on the Tab 2.0. The tablet runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with TouchWiz UI. In addition to Samsung Apps, Hubs, and S Pen Experience apps, the Note also comes pre-loaded with Adobe Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. It supports Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity and has a microSD/SDHC card slot. There are 3G+WiFi and WiFi-only version models. The 3G version supports GPS/AGPS and quad-band GSM/EDGE and quad-band 21Mbps HSPA networks.

LG Optimus L3, L5 and L7 L-Style Smartphones

LG announced its new design identity, L-Style, at the MWC 2012 and brings three new L-Style phones including the Optimus L3, L5 and L7. The L7 is the flagship in the L-Style line featuring a 4.3-inch large touchscreen. It is powered by a 1Ghz single-core processor. The L7 measures just 8.7mm thick. The L5, the mid-range model, comes with a 4-inch touchscreen and 5 Megapixel camera. It boasts a 800MHz processor. Both L7 and L5 will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Optimus L3 is the entry-level model with a 3.2-inch display. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will be available in March in Europe. The L5 and L7 will be released in first half.

Samsung announced its tablet line-up for 2012, the Galaxy Tab 2 series that comes in 7-inch and 10.1-inch versions. In fact, the company has announced the 7-inch model two week before. Except for the screen size and dimension, the 7.0 and 10.1 are just the same. Both of them are powered by 1Ghz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM, and will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 comes with a 7-inch 1024×600 PLS touchscreen, while the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has a 10.1-inch 1280×800 touchscreen. They sport a 3 Megapixel main camera and a VGA front camera for video chat; and come with Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity and support for GPS/AGPS and Glonass location technology. Both 7-inch and 10.1-inch models are available wit 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities. There are 3G+WiFi version and WiFi-only version available for consumers to choose from, with the former works on quad-band GSM/EDGE and quad-band HSPA networks.

The Galaxy Tab 2 devices are pre-loaded with Samsung Apps, TouchWiz Ui, ChatON messenger, and Samsung Hub. The Tab 2 7.0 measures 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5 mm and comes with 4,000mAh battery, and the Tab 2 10.1 measures  256.6 x 175.3 x 9.7 mm and has a 7,000mAh battery.

  1. Great work came at a perfect time for me, html5 music playerwould be really cool if we could at least get an option to enable the HTML5 mode player in the next Subsonic release. Not only would it bypass the need for flash, but it also has some extra features (wav playback, etc).It seems the biggest issue would be with flv video, but by transcoding to mp4 instead of flv, that could be solved. Even without the video fix, making it optional would allow those of us the mainly use Subsonic for music to benefit from the new player.
